Yoga Trek and Soul Pilgrimage to Muktinath, Mustang

Cut off from the rest of the world on the edge of Tibet, Mustang is a high altitude desert with the world’s highest peaks set against an infinite blue sky.

Mustang is home to numerous Buddhist monasteries and ancient Hindu temples and is, therefore, a spiritually important and enlightening place in Nepal. In the heart of Mustang lies the Kali Gandaki river between the two giant mountains Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On this yoga retreat and soul pilgrimage, you will get a chance to:

  • Practice yoga, including breathing techniques (pranayama), on a daily basis. Beginners will get the chance to get a taste of yoga and build a good foundation for their yogic journey. More experienced yogis will deepen their practice and gain further inspiration for their ongoing yoga journey.

  • Practice Meditation along with the chants of Tibetan monks in a Buddhist monastery & in a cave in the mountains of Mustang

  •  Visit the most important temples and stupas both of Kathmandu & Pokhara, including the holy temple and pilgrimage place of Muktinath (known as "the place of liberation")

  •  Visit a hot spring, glacier lake, and local mountain villages in Mustang

  • Taste local healthy foods and specialties

  • Transform your body, mind and soul through the energies of the Himalayas

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Daily schedule

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu, arrival ceremony and dinner
Day 2: Yoga, visit of Boudhanath stupa and Pashupatinath (two main sacred places in Kathmandu)
Day 3: Domestic flight to Pokhara, free time and/or yogic relaxation
Day 4 (start day for trip from Pokhara): Yoga, explore Phewa Lake and Peace Pagoda with views on the magnificient Annapurna Himalayan range. Kirtan mantra singing in the evening.
Day 5: Yoga, start jeep ride to Tatopani, visit hot springs in Tatopani
Day 6: Morning meditation, visit Marpha (a local village in Mustang), taste local apple specialties, afternoon yoga session
Day 7: Yoga, visit glacier lake Dhumba Lake and leopard cave with views on the most important mountains of Mustang. Night in Kagbeni.
Day 8: Meditation in a Buddhist monastery, followed by a visit to the sacred Muktinath temple.
 During sunset time, singing circle and mantra chanting in ancient yogic cave.
Day 9: Yoga & Pranayama, jeep ride back to Tatopani. Night in Tatopani.
Day 1
0 (last day for trip from Pokhara): Yoga & Pranayama, jeep journey to Pokhara. Rest and relax in Pokhara. Evening Kirtan mantra singing.
Day 11: Yoga, followed by ayurvedic plants and healing medicine walk through the local jungle. Cooking class with Madan in the evening.
Day 12: Domestic flight from Pokhara back to Kathmandu. PCR Test (if applicable) can be done in the hotel. Closing ceremony in the evening.
Day 13: Departure to home country or ongoing travels.

What is included?

Accomodation and meals:

We will stay in comfortable hotels throughout the whole journey (private rooms with attached bathroom, hot shower). All accomodations (Kathmandu, Pokhara, Mustang) are located in peaceful, quiet areas that allow you to be surrounded by the sounds of nature and see the Himalayan mountains from the rooftops. The food will be entirely vegetarian and/or vegan. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements.

What do I need to bring?

In the cities in Kathmandu and Pokhara, we will be having temperatures up to 20-23 degrees celsius at daytime, with temperatures around 12-15 degrees at night. In the mountains of Mustang, temperatures will be lower, with daytime temperatures not more than 15 degrees and nighttime temperatures around 5 degrees celsius. Do bring a warm and windproof jacket and warm clothes for sleeping; trekking boots are not a must but good sneakers are necessary. You do not need to bring a sleeping bag. Please do not forget sun protection. You can bring a big backpack or suitcase. Yoga mats are provided.
